Terrifier 2

Picking up where the first movie left off, Art the Clown’s back from the dead. As usual, terrorize random people. A teenaged girl named, Senna crosses paths with the silent killer clown on Halloween night. She’ll do whatever it takes to put an end to Art’s reign of terror. “Terrifier 2” premiered at the Frightmare Film Festival in August 29, 2022 (same year X and Pearl came out) and given a theatrical release in October 6, 2022. It received praise from critics and movie goers alike. A third installment set during Christmas time came out in 2024.

Anyway, Damien Leone is working on a fourth Terrifier movie. He confirmed it’ll be set during New Year’s Eve. One more thing, it’s Halloween Month. I’ve been watching and reviewing horror movies since October 1st. Which ones should I review next? Please leave a comment and don’t forget to subscribe.

Today’s review contains no SPOILERS.

Alive & Dead Qualities

Alive: David Howard Thornton reprises his role as Art the Clown. He did a terrific job for his performance.

Lauren LeVara did a splendid job for her performance as Sienna Shaw.

Damien Leone did a good job directing. He mostly did a good job writing the script.

Death Scenes ramp up the blood and gore. If you have a sensitive stomach, bring a barf bag. A few puked and fainted during a screening. This may not be everybody’s cup of tea. My word of advice, don’t eat anything.

Practical Effects were heavily involved creating kill scenes. They were made on a $250,000 budget. Not too shabby for an independent movie. You can tell Damien’s did all that hard work without relying on Computer Animation. Gotta love old school effects.

Prosthetic Makeup transformed David into Art.

Sienna’s an interesting protagonist. We learn about her background.

The sequel introduces supernatural elements. A mute little girl dressed like Art acts as his guide.

Stay tuned for a Mid-Credits Scene.

Fun Facts

  1. Damien compared the rivalry between Sierra & Art to Batman & Joker.
  2. VHS copies of Terrifier 2 was on stock at Wal-Mart.

Dead: Acting can be subpar at times whenever Sienna’s younger brother, Jonathan, her mother, Barbara have an argument. I didn’t care about them.

Pacing issues in between the sequel’s 2 hours and 18 minute duration. Sometimes it goes smooth, sometimes it goes rough. Could’ve trimmed down a lengthy dream sequence.

A Deus Ex Machina occurred towards the end. Felt anticlimactic.

The Final Verdict: B-

Despite imperfections, I thought Terrifier 2 was okay. It’s not the same grade as the first movie. I’ve yet to see Terrifier 3. I’m saving up for a review sometime around December. If you’re new to the Terrifier series, check out the anthology movie, “All Hallow’s Eve” Terrifier 1-2 and wait for Terrifier 3 before Christmas Month.
