All Hallows’ Eve

Damien Leone’s directorial debut, “All Hallows’ Eve” was officially released on DVD in 2013 (same year The Last of Us came out) and Blu-Ray a year later as a double featuring along with “Mischief Night.” It received mixed reviews from critics. I already covered history behind the “Terrifier” series. If you wanna know more about it, check out my review of the first film. Anyway, it’s officially Halloween Month. I’ll be covering a few horror films throughout October. One more thing, Damien Leone is currently developing a fourth Terrifier film. As of late 2026, no release date’s confirmed.

Today’s review contains no SPOILERS. I’m giving you a chance to try out this anthology film until five right into the Terrifier series.

Good & Evil Aspects

Good: Damien Leone mostly did a good job directing.

Scare Factor has actual bone chilling moments. Way scarier than Vincent Price’s “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Sorry folks, it was miserably boring as heck.

Death Scenes are brutal and not for the faint of heart. If you have a weak stomach, bring a barf bag.

Practical Effects were heavily involved staging kill scenes.

Cinematography’s shot in stable condition.

Pacing felt natural for a 83-minute film.

First story’s an expansion of Damien’s short film, “The 9th Circle.”

My favorite story is the third one with Art the Clown chasing a costume designer.

The Ending indicates it’s not a compilation movie. A legit reason why an anthology movie must be tied to one plotline. From my point of view, compilation films like “Fantasia” are not pure cinema. An anthology flick must have storylines all connected into a cohesive one like a non-linear (out of order) film like “Amores Perros,” “21 Grams” & “Babel.” Each non-linear film’s directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Evil: Similar to my review of the first Terrifier film, this one doesn’t feature a three-dimensional protagonist. I didn’t care about the babysitter and two kids. I don’t remember their names. Not a single one.

Acting felt wooden. You can tell the actors filmed their scenes in one take.

My least favorite story is the second part. Felt outta place.

The Final Verdict: B-

Despite imperfections like forgettable characters minus Art the Clown, I thought All Hallows’ Eve is average. Not a masterpiece or a stinker. It was ok. If you’re new to the Terrifier series, try out All Hallows’ Eve and the aforementioned series. Which horror films should I watch and review next? Please leave comment.
