Don’t Look Up

Greetings fellow movie goers from around the globe. 2021 is over, now it’s officially 2022. My first review of the new year is obviously a satirical sci-fi comedy directed by Adam McKay (Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers, The Big Short, Vice) titled, “Don’t Look Up.”

Don’t Look Up is streaming on Netflix. It received mixed reviews from critics and streamers alike. My favorite actor, Leonardo “Leo” DiCaprio will reunite with Martin Scorsese in “Killers Of The Flower Moon” streaming soon on Apple TV. Don’t Look Up is nominated at The Golden Globes for “Best Actor In A Musical Or Comedy,” (Leonardo DiCaprio) “Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy,” (Jennifer Lawrence) “Best Screenplay” (Adam McKay) & “Best Musical Or Comedy.”

As you may know, Awards Season is ongoing until The 2022 Oscars will air on March 27th. I’m gonna be reviewing some films from the past and present before the aforementioned awards show airs on ABC

This review contains SPOILERS. If you’re somewhat interested in Don’t Look Up, read at your own risk.

Intelligent & Unintelligent Aspects

Intelligent: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Mark Rylance, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Melanie Lynskey, Kid Cudi & Michael Chiklis all did a great job for their respective performances. Jonah deserves an Extra Point for making me laugh.

Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) provides narration of the fictional “BASH” commercials.

Visual Effects are good. They don’t look cheesy as heck.

Sarah Silverman & Chris Evans make cameo appearances.

The film is a satirical depiction of the media oblivious to a global catastrophe.

Despite my dislike towards Ariana Grande’s music and acting career, I’m not gonna bad mouth her. Why? Because she’s one of the pieces in Mac Miller’s life. Prior to his tragic death, they used to date together. Give Ariana a break. She’s a human being who’s been through a lot. Mac is one of my three idols I look up to besides Christopher Nolan & Hunter Schafer.

Unintelligent: Adam McKay did a horrible job directing. After his split with his pal Will Ferrell, Adam lost his mojo.

Cinematography often succumbs to Shaky Cam.

Meryl “Multiple Sclerosis” Streep is in this film. Sorry folks, I can’t stand her. She’s a pretentious glory hound attention seeking whore. Whenever Meryl is in a film or series, I always Triple Down this con. I think every Awards Shows like The Oscars love to eat Meryl’s farts. If I were Mr. McKay, I would’ve casted Edie Falco. Meryl is the Green Goblin to my Spider-Man.

A Mid Credits-Scene is shown and I swear to god, I’m not lying. Meryl has a nude scene. Even Leo hated seeing her butt naked. I have no choice, but to subtract a truckload of points. EGADS! That’s gonna leave a mental scar for the rest of my life!

Don’t bother watching a Post-Credits Scene. It’s a waste of time.

Product Placement (Pee Pee for short) featuring brands such as YouTube, Dell, Miller Lite, Utz Chips, Samsung & Coca-Cola.

The Final Verdict: F, FOR FAKER!

Sorry folks, Don’t Look Up is one of the worst movies of 2021 along with “Cruella,” “Tom And Jerry,” “Space Jam: A New Legacy” & “Teen Titans Go See Space Jam.” If you wanna watch a better satirical sci-fi comedy about the dumbing down of humanity, Mike Judge’s “Idiocracy” is your one-way ticket of non-stop laughter. I’m utterly shocked The Golden Globes didn’t select James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” as a potential nominee for Best Musical Or Comedy. One of my favorite movies of 2021 managed to make me laugh so hard. I hate it when Award Shows snub Marvel & DC related movies. I hope Leonardo DiCaprio can bounce back in Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon. If Don’t Look Up is nominated at The Oscars instead of The Suicide Squad, I’m so gonna be pissed.
