After Season 3’s shocking finale, Tanjiro Kamado, and allies enter Hashira Training (the equivalent of a boot camp) to prep up for an upcoming epic battle between Muzan and his demons. While Tanjiro pushes his abilities to the limit, he interacts with his friends knowing he may or may not make it out alive. Meanwhile, Muzan has his eye on a focal character.
Demon Slayer’s fourth and final season officially streamed in 2024 (same year My Hero Academia: You’re Next came out) on Crunchyroll earning praise from critics, fans and streamers alike. Although show ended, it continues with its final story arc, “The Infinity Castle Arc.” MAPPA adapted it into a trilogy. Part One was released in July 18 exclusively in Japan and released in America two later. Now that I’ve already finished the show, I’m ready to watch Infinity Castle Part One.
Today’s review contains no SPOILERS whatsoever.
Polished & Rusty Aspects
Polished: Voice Actors reprise their roles and they all did a superb job for their respective voiceover performances.
Animation is Class A bringing a few elements to life such as character models, fluid movement, lighting and environmental locations. You can tell animators worked their butts off putting all that hard effort. They deserve a bonus paycheck.
Characters from previous seasons make their return. Tanjiro interacts with the warriors. Thanks to Tanjiro’s influence, some of ‘em gained his trust as an equal.
Due to his previous fights and intense training, Tanjiro has a muscular build. That doesn’t mean he’s all powerful. He has to push his skills and abilities beyond 100% in order to defeat Muzan and his crew. Tanjiro seeks to obtain a powerful technique by completing very hard challenges.
As you may know, Muzan has his eye on a focal character. If you know, you know.
Random Thought: As I’ve mentioned on my previous reviews. Inosuke is my favorite character. He’s funny as heck. He reminds me of Wolverine wearing a boar mask. I also like Kanroji.
Last episode sets up The Infinity Castle Trilogy. A point of no return. Will Tanjiro and his allies make it out? We shall see in the aforementioned trilogy.
Rusty: Zenitzu continues to act like an annoying buffoon. All he does is nag and yell. Zenitzu’s not funny, he’s obnoxious. I prefer Kanroji over him
Unlike previous seasons, this one feels like filler season affecting the pacing. It’s like watching an eight part trailer for The Infinity Castle Trilogy. As if Ang Lee wrote and directed Season 4’s storyline. He made Hulk boring.
I know everybody’s gearing up for an upcoming battle, but the final season strictly focuses on talking less Action Sequences.
The Final Verdict: B-
Demon Slayer’s fourth and final season felt average. Felt like an eight part trailer for The Infinity Castle Trilogy. It could’ve been trimmed as a 30-minute prelude to Infinity Castle Part One as a better way to understand what’s going on. If you’re already caught watching all four seasons, now’s the time to see Infinity Castle Part One.
