Set approximately six years after “X,” sole survivor, Maxine Minx relocates in Los Angeles, California where she wins an audition for a Horror film. Suddenly, a serial killer stalks his prey. As Maxine struggles to cope with the psychological trauma she endured at Pearl’s farm, sinister clues are tied to her past.
“MaXXXine” was officially released in 2024 earning positive reviews from critics and movie goers alike. In addition to solid reception, the final installment of “The X Trilogy” made enough revenue at the box office. It’s close to the end of Halloween Month. Once I’m finished watching and reviewing Horror films, I’ll resume back to viewing content linked to Awards Seasons. Anyway, Mia Goth & Ti West have two upcoming projects. Mark your calendars.
Mia will appear in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic fantasy, “The Odyssey” coming in July 17, 2026. Ti West will direct “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol” with Johnny Depp portraying Scrooge. It’ll be released on November 13, 2026.

Clean & Messy Aspects
Clean: Mia Goth reprises her role as Maxine Minx from the first movie. She did an excellent job for her performance. In addition to carrying the final entry, Mia also co-produced it.
Random Thought: Maxine dyed her hair blonde. I’m attracted to blonde girls. They’re my type.
Other Cast Members such as Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito & Kevin Bacon all did a decent job for their respective performances.
Fun Fact: I got my pic with Mr. Esposito at Fan Expo Dallas 2024. Good times.

Ti West did a good job directing. He also wrote the script and co-produced the film.
Death Scenes are fatal and definitely not for the faint of heart. There’s nudity too. Like the previous two entries, it’s not for the whole family. In the words of the robotic announcer from Adult Swim Action, “Put the kids to bed and get ready to get down.”
Tyler Bates (John Wick series, 300, Watchmen) orchestrated the soundtrack.
Nice tunes from ‘The 80s. Thank goodness Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” wasn’t included. I think it’s the most overexposed songs in movies and TV shows besides my most hated pick, “Over the Rainbow.”
Cinematography’s shot in stable condition.
Pacing didn’t feel slow or fast.
Opening Credits has a montage of historical footage from The ‘80s. Like going back in time.
Sophie Thatcher (young Nat from Yellowjackets) makes a brief appearance as an effects artist.
A few callbacks to the first movie.
Unlike X & “Pearl,” Maxxine lacks tension and dramatic stakes. X had unpredictable moments on who’s gonna make it or not. Pearl told a fascinating villain origin story. MaXXXine however, wasn’t unique.
The Villain’s one-dimensional and forgettable. Couldn’t remember his name. He suddenly pops up outta nowhere. Pales in comparison to Pearl. Not on the same level of awesome villains from 2024.
- Cassandra Nova – Deadpool and Wolverine
- Feyd-Rautha – Dune: Part Two
- Skar King – Godzilla and Kong The New Empire
- Shadow the Hedgehog – Sonic the Hedgehog 3
- Sue – The Substance
- Art the Clown – Terrifier 3
- Count Orlock – Nosferatu
- Snidel – SpyxFamily Code: White
- Dark Might – My Hero Academia: You’re Next
- Proximus Caesar – Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
The confrontation felt anticlimactic. It’s hard to discuss.
Final Verdicts
X: A, FOR APEX!
Pearl: A, FOR APEX!
MaXXXine: B-
Trilogy Overall: A-
Despite blemishes, MaXXXine concluded The X Trilogy in a good way. If it weren’t for a few problems, I could’ve given the final entry my highest grade, an A, FOR APEX. Concluding a trilogy with a 10/10 threequel isn’t easy. If you haven’t seen The X Trilogy, I highly recommend it. Ti West confirms he’s done with X. Not every trilogy needs an another one. Leave it alone.
