“House of Mouse” officially aired in 2001 on ABC’s former block “Disney One’s Saturday Morning.” An animated series focuses on Mickey Mouse hosting the titular night club where Disney characters from hang out to watch cartoons. That’s basically what they’re here for ignoring the fact they can buy some on eBay or anywhere like Wal-Mart. Besides a compilation of cartoons at the club, an episode has an original story like Goofy’s neighbor, Pete. The club’s greedy landlord who constantly attempts to shut the place down.
House of Mouse ran a total of three seasons and 52 episodes. The show ended in 2003 and spawned two direct-to-DVD movies, “Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse” & “Mickey’s house of Villains.”
Mickey’s House of Villains opened in stores in 2002 (Red Dragon came out) on DVD & VHS. I used to watch it on DVD when I was a kid. Anyway, it’s Halloween Month. Mickey’s House of Villains counts as something to watch during the spooky month of October. Square Enix is currently developing “Kingdom Hearts IV.”
I don’t give a rat’s behind if SPOILERS are present. Don’t waste your spare time on this “movie.”
Full & Empty Aspects
Full: James Woods, Jonathan Freeman and the late Gilbert Gottfried reprise their roles as their signature baddie. They all did a solid job for their respective performances.
The Villians performed a musical number, “It’s Our House Now.”
Only good part besides the aforementioned tune is when Mickey Mouse dons his Sorcerer’s Apprentice hat and red robe to combat The Villains. Makes me wanna replay the entire Kingdom Hearts series just to beat the crud outta ‘em.
Random Thoughts
- I first watched House of Mouse as a kid on Toon Disney upon seeing a commercial for the first “Kingdom Hearts” game. Although I personally prefer Cartoon Network/Toonami, over Toon Disney, I went outta my comfort zone to give it a shot.
- Hades is my favorite Disney villain. He served as a boss in the Kingdom Hearts series. Can’t wait for the fourth game.
Empty: Jafar’s incompetent like a pre-Daniel Craig Bond villain. Why didn’t he steal Mickey’s spotlight from the get go? Imagine if Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War” didn’t hunt for the Infinity Stones until Act 3? At least Jafar served a purpose as one of the main bosses in Kingdom Hearts 1-2.
Piglet walks with the evil doers at the lobby. He’s supposed nice. This is before Winnie-The-Pooh and most of his pals went to the horror route in “Blood and Honey” and its sequel.
This so-called “direct-to-DVD” movie lied to me. It’s just a compilation of cartoons. In other words, a clip show. Cue, Deadpool’s quote, “Well, that’s just lazy writing.” Gotta Triple Down Disney for swindling kids to spend their allowance on this piece of crud.
Running Time’s 70 minutes long. Typical for an animated movie. However, if you trim the cartoons, you get 20 minutes.
Oh jeez. The Siamese Cats appear. In recent years, Disney refrained from racist caricatures. However, they included the cats. Nowadays, they continue to depict offensive stereotypes like a bossy female know-it-all and a male character like Poe Dameron who’s an imbecile. Recently, Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White starring that POS, Rachel Zegler. Nothing but a misandrist fest. I’m afraid Hollywood’s gone back to Hollywood’s horrific era in the Golden Age of Hollywood when racial stereotypes were acceptable back then. This time it’s offensive gender stereotypes. When will Hollywood comprehend? Gotta subtract a truckload of points. I was raised better. Racism and Sexism is bad.
What do the antagonists do throughout the entire “movie?” Steal Mickey’s role as host, presenting a cartoon. I excepted The Villains to cause havoc and mischief. Heck, do something effed up like Claude Frollo slaying a Romani woman in the opening scene from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” I’ve seen better villain based stories when the evil protagonist crossed a huge line below.
- A Clockwork Orange – Alex “performing” “Singin’ in the Rain.”
- The Godfather Part II – Michael Corleone slaps his wife and puts a loved one down like “Old Yeller.”
- Scarface – Tony Montana shoots an associate before the infamous shootout at the end.
- The Fly 1986 – Seth Brundle “puking” on a dude’s hand and foot.
- American Psycho – Patrick Bateman annihilates somebody with a chainsaw while naked.
- Sweeney Todd – The titular character made a huge mistake realizing one of his victims is somebody he knows.
- Joker – Arthur Fleck’s interview on a talk show “goes out with a bang.”
- James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad – Somebody betrays the team and puts an end to a team member.
- The Penguin’s final episode – Oswald mercilessly slays an associate.
The Final Verdict: F, FOR FAKER!
Mickey’s House of Villains is a complete waste of time. Don’t bother seeing it. Watch legit villain based movies instead like “Natural Born Killers,” “American Psycho,” “A Clockwork Orange” & “Joker.”
