Picking up where “Dead Reckoning – Part One” left off, the second half, “The Final Reckoning” continues Ethan Hunt’s quest to prevent a malevolent A.I. called, “The Entity” from launching nuclear weapons across the globe. He’ll need the help he can get from his allies, Luther Stickell, Benji Dunn and new recruit, Grace to save the world from a nuclear holocaust. All they need to do is find the source of The Entity. Your mission, should you choose to accept this mission watching the final installment of the Mission Impossible” series? Heck yes.
Prior to its worldwide release, May 27, 2025, “Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning” premiered in Tokyo on May 5. It also screened at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 14. Tom Cruise was given a six-minute standing ovation. The Final Reckoning earned positive reviews. It needs to make a billion dollars to breakeven. Anyway, Mr. Cruise will work with Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu (21 Grams, Babel, The Revenant) in an upcoming wild comedy. It’s scheduled to be released on October 2, 2026. Before it comes out next year, I wanna share my thoughts on my number one anticipated film of 2025.

Polished & Rusty Qualites
Polished: Tom “TC” Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham & Angela Bassett reprise their roles and they all did an excellent job for their respective performances.
- Fun Fact 1: This isn’t the first time a Tom Cruise movie competes with Lilo and Stitch.” “Minority Report” and the OG animated Lilo and Stitch both came out the exact same day. June 21, 2002. History repeats itself. To quote Robin Williams in “Jumanji.” “WHAT YEAR IS IT!?”
- Fun Fact 2: Both The Final Reckoning & Lilo and Stitch also got popcorn buckets. Taking cues from Dune Part Two’s popcorn bucket.
In addition to portraying Ethan Hunt one last time, TC co-produce the final installment along with Christopher McQuarrie.
Mr. McQuarrie did a terrific job directing. He also co-wrote the script with Erik Jendresen.
Action Sequences are fun to witness Mr. Cruise pull off dangerous stunts. The submarine and plane scenes earn Bonus Points. TC’s like Jackie Chan performing his own stunts.
Max Aruj & Alfie Godfrey orchestrated the soundtrack.
Callbacks and flashbacks from previous installments. Good thing the second movie gets some attention. However, nobody addressed the absence of Thandiwe Newton’s character, Nyah.
Remember “The Rabbit’s Foot from the third movie? It’s finally addressed.
Two prominent characters are linked to the first movie.
A shocking moment will make you gasp.
Practical Effects were heavily involved creating TC’s stunts.
Cinematography didn’t succumb to technical problems throughout.
Nick Offerman appears as an army general. This time he doesn’t have is trademark mustache.
Rusty: There’s pacing issues and lack of action scenes. Too much talky talky. The second half of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” didn’t heavily rely on excessive dialogue. This film is 170 minutes long. I’d drink less Dr. Pepper and eat less popcorn if I were you. Don’t miss out on something very important regarding the story.

Dead Reckoning & Final Reckoning: (Both Parts Count as One) A-
Series Overall: A-
Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning may not be a perfect send-off like Hary Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, but it was a satisfying conclusion to an action spy series. As a fan of Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible films, it was definitely worth the wait. If you have no plans during weekend, go out and support this film. Next movies on my list are James Gunn’s “Superman” & “The Fantastic Four: The First Steps.” Both of ’em are coming out in July. Which is my birthday month.
