My Hero Academia: World Heroes

Released in 2021, (same year Invincible aired on Amazon Prime Video) the third movie in the “My Hero Academia” series earned positive reviews from critics, fans and movie goers alike. In addition to good reception, it made enough revenue at the box office. A fourth movie is currently in development. As of late 2023, no release date has been announced. As a fan of My Hero Academia, I wanna share my thoughts on “World Heroes’ Mission.” One more thing, a free-to-play game, “My Hero Ultra Rumble” is out.

This review contains no SPOILERS whatsoever. Feel free to read my non-spoiler article.

Mighty & Weak Aspects

Mighty: Voice Actors from the show reprise their roles and they all did an excellent job for their respective voiceover performances.

Robbie Daymond (Goro Akechi from Persona 5) did a great job for his voiceover performance as main antagonist, Flect Turn.

Animation brings an immersive world to life along with character models, fluid movement, lighting and environmental locations.

Action Sequences further escalate an individual’s unique power known as a “Quirk.”

Pacing felt stable for a 101-minute anime movie. My eyes were glued to the screen without looking at my watch.

Humor has a few Funny Moments. Ten times funnier than those unfunny comedies “Thunder Force” & “Don’t Look Up.”

Opening Scene fully establishes Flect Turn as a challenging opponent. He has the power to deflect.

Chemistry between Deku & Rody factor in. They must work together if they want to put an end to Flect Turn’s grandmaster plan from detonating bombs across the globe.

If you’re watching the show in chronological order, World Heroes’ Mission takes place before Season 6’s “Paranormal Liberation War” arc.

Rody Soul has an interesting background. He’s trying his best to support his younger brother and sister. Thanks to Character Development, he become Deku’s trustworthy ally helping him on his mission.

A Plot Twist involving Flect Turn. Way better than M. Night Shyamalan’s “Old.”

Stay tune for a Photo Montage during the End Credits.

Weak: At first, I was expecting this movie to be a globe-trotting adventure with Class 1-A students and Pro Heroes sharing equal screen time. Turns out this is Deku’s movie. Kachan & Todoroki have supporting roles. Can you imagine if “Avengers: Infinity War” with Captain America hogging the spotlight, instead of every single character we’ve known since Iron Man propelled the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I wanna see my Top 5 Class 1-A characters kicking butt in different countries.

  1. Kirishima
  2. Tsu (rhymes like Sue)
  3. Mineta
  4. Jiro
  5. Tokoyami

The Final Verdict: A-

Although not a 10/10 like the second movie “Heroes Rising,” My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is a near-perfect installment. Had it focus on Class 1-A and the Pro Heroes, I would’ve given it my highest grade an A, FOR APEX. Before you begin Season 6, watch the third movie. I can’t wait for the fourth entry. Which anime should I review next? Please leave a comment and I’ll reply back. If you’re already finished with Season 5, on to the next one.
